Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of fish are in the lake?
- Large mouth Bass are up to 8+ lbs.
- Catfish are up to 20+ lbs.
- Rainbow trout are up to 15+ lbs.
- Blue gill introduced this year with fish up to 1.5 lbs. being caught already.
Can you keep the fish?
- We are a catch and release lake. However, if you should have a fish die upon release, you would be able to keep that fish. All we ask is that you let us know when you keep one so that we may keep track of what comes out of the lake. Bass are catch and release only.
- If you desire to keep some fish on occasion you must schedule with lake manager and there will be a small charge for tracking and replacing the fish to the lake, to keep it the best fishery possible for all the members.
What kind of tackle do you suggest?
- Bass/Catfish: We recommend 8-12 lb. test on a medium action spinning or conventional style rod. Rod length is angler's preference.
- Trout: We recommend 2-4 lb. test on a light action-spinning rod with compatible size reel.
Hook sizes: All hooks must be single & bronze only. - Bass: Size 2-5/0 depending on bait or lure size.
- Catfish: Size # 4 to 1/0. Bait holder style hooks.
- Trout: Size #10-6 bronze bait holders.
Weights:- Catfish: From fly line that is no weight at all, to as much as a 1 oz.-sliding sinker. Swivel or Carolina Keeper recommended keeping weight off hook.
- Trout: Anything from BB split shot to an eighth oz. sliding sinker.
What kinds of baits are allowed?
- All kinds are allowed. The only bait not allowed is live thin fish. Night crawler's, mealworms, crawdads, anchovies, mackerels, etc. are all okay.
How big is the lake?
- The lake is 2 acres at this point. At max pool the length has a depth of approximately 14 ft., which is deep enough to where there is no die off in the summer.
How does the lake get water?
- The lake is situated in the Mojave River Basin. So once you dig down, you hit water. There is a small under welling which keeps water fresh and flowing. The lake never goes dry or too far below the full mark.
How is the scenery?
- The scenery is beautiful. The property is nestled at the base of the Mojave hills located with an orchard, so there is plenty of greenery to enjoy. There are pine trees surrounding the lake. We are planning on putting in grass as well.
Can we bring a guest?
- Members are allowed to bring up to three guests, and any more than that for a regular day of fishing or special event will need to go through property manager
- The fee for a guest accompanied by a member is $ 30.00. However, for non-members, 30.00 dollars for 4 hours of fishing can be applied toward your membership if you choose to join on the same day, or within 24 hrs. of your visit.
- You will see for yourself that we have a world-class fishery; the finest fishing lake in southern CA due to the sheer number per rod per day, not to mention the size. There is more fish per acre-foot now in our lake than the competition.
- Catfish will be on tap with the Trout continuing to bite along with the Bass and Bluegill all summer! Year round fishing, what more could you want?
What about Special Events?
- The sky is the limit regarding Special Events. We are just a phone call or email away to accommodate you in countless ways. Just to mention a few: weddings, company picnics, boy scouts, girl scouts, tournaments, fly-fishing, and etc.. Please contact your lake manager.
Is there any available equipment?
- Bring your own, or call Paul.
